Yuèling is a young Viera who has been blessed by the Hydaelyn. He originates from Yanxia and went on an adventure heading to Ul'Dah when his clan rushed him to leave to avoid the war.
He started his journey as a Black Mage, then switched to White Mage after joining the Scions. He later mastered the art of red magic when coming back to Yanxia to help with the war there.
Besides excelling in the magic art, he's still able to use a good variety of weapons and is quite good at crafting anything needed. He's most known for his talent as an Alchimist and as an Armorer out of them all.

It glow with a mystic red aura when fighting strong foes since the fight against Yotsuyu.
Buuz Earring
His iconic earring offered by Raha. It's a small steamed bun that was offered to Yuèling because he likes to call him his Bǎo (宝).

References to Chinese Folklore
Giving his age, Yuèling would be born in the year 1999, making him born during the year of the Rabbit. This year is under the Earth sign, making Yuèling have a good affinity with this element.
The blond and golden part of his design is also to represent his lucky color, yellow.
Yuèling is tied to the moon in a lot of different way, for example his name is composed of the three following characters : 朱 Zhū for Crimson, 月 Yuè for The Moon and 灵 Ling for The spirit.
The hints of red in his clothing is to represent his clan, and the dominant black color of his design is also to reference the association between the moon and the 阴 Yin.
The nameday of Yuèling is the 25th Sun of the 5th Astral Moon corresponding to the date of the Mid-Autumn festival in 1999. As Yuèling is referencing not only the moon but Cháng’é myth. His red eyes is to mimic the white rabbits that are with her. He would also turn white when he transform to mimic them even more.
His ancestor Lagós (λαγός) has died after sacrificing himself for Hermès during the last days. In his memory Venat, who loved to talk about rabbits with him, put the lopporits on the moon, hoping that one day he would be able to find them.
This is referencing to the Jātakas tale where a rabbit offer himself to an hermit for him to survive. Touched by the sacrifice of the rabbit, the hermit drew the rabbit on the moon for all to see.
In the Chinese myth of Cháng’é, the rabbit on the moon are crafting an elixir of life for her to live long. In reference to this Yuèling excelles in the job of hand, but especially with Alchimy and healing.
